Khama Billiat has shared his disappointment at having to sit on the sidelines owing to injury. Following weeks of rehabilitation, the Amakhosi player admits that it’s tough watching his teammates play while he’s unable to contribute.
“It’s mentally challenging to work hard to get better while sitting out. It’s frustrating because you want to play and help the team, but you can’t. So I just pray for the guys and speak to them before matches to help them prepare,” Billiat explained.
The Zimbabwean international picked up what he thought was a minor injury during training after returning from the December break. However, the pain persisted, and after seeking medical attention, he was diagnosed with a small fracture on the groin and underwent surgery.
He has been slowly working towards recovery, and the Amakhosi medical team is hopeful that he will be back on the field soon. Billiat has had a challenging time since joining Kaizer Chiefs from Mamelodi Sundowns, having spent time on the sidelines due to various injuries.
As his contract with the team is set to expire soon, Khama Billiat’s future with Kaizer Chiefs is shrouded in uncertainty. While playing for Mamelodi Sundowns, Billiat displayed some of his best football, but has not been able to replicate that success since joining Kaizer Chiefs.
Unfortunately, injuries have been a significant obstacle for the Zimbabwean forward, leading to speculation that he may consider leaving South Africa when his contract expires.
